What is CEP?
CEP (Código de Endereçamento Postal) is a postal code system used by Brazilian Post Office to facilitate the routing and delivery of mail. Created in 1972, CEP consists of 8 numeric digits that identify streets, localities, cities and states throughout the national territory.
ZIP Code Format
The Brazilian ZIP code follows the format XXXXX-XXX, where the first 5 digits identify the region, sub-region, sector, subsector and subsector divider, and the last 3 digits identify the distribution identifier. It can be used with or without the hyphen separator.
